Hello and thanks for stopping by. This is the site for Green Mountain Composite, a coed high school mountain bike racing team in Colorado.
Our riders hail from Louisville (near Boulder) to Green Mountain, Lakewood and Douglas County. Many of our riders love cycling and compete in Road, Cyclocross and BMX, as well as Mountain Biking. Others come to us with a dedicated love of mountain biking. Our members range from newbies to student athletes who began racing at a very young age.
We are proud to be part of the Colorado High School Cycling League and the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA).
We have wonderful sponsors who share our vision for youth mountain biking. Their commitment to our shared cause helps us make competitive mountain bike racing affordable. Our 2013 sponsors include Green Mountain Sports, Jerico Farms, Next Ascent Outdoor and Sport, Innovative Office Solutions, Team Sho-Air, Pedal of Littleton, Polar Bottle, Sports Hansa, Sock Guy, Royal Racing and Jakroo Cycling Wear.
While our focus is on helping our team members develop into the best riders they can be, we are also interested in helping them become great people and community members. We focus on leadership, the value and benefits of being a contributing member of a team and why it is important to be a good person.
Our coaches bring their love and extensive knowledge of cycling to our team. Kathy, our head coach, has been a professional cycling competitor most of her adult life. In November of 2011 she was the 7th woman to complete the La Ruta, de Los Conquistadores adventure race, a four day mountain bike adventure race in Costa Rica. Kathy also competes in Road and Cyclocross races. She has previously run a successful professional women's mountain bike team. Eric also has an extensive background in cycling and many other recreational sports
Our regular practices run from late spring until the end of the season, which is usually around the end of October or early November. During the 2021 season most of our practice sessions were held at various locations in Golden as there are many perfect mountain bike trails to ride and rock gardens to carve.
At the actual races we support our racers in many ways including coaching, encouragement and nourishment. We set up our team tent, organize food, support, friendship and fun for the day.
In 2013 we are also encouraging our team members to attend mountain bike camp and consider taking part in the Epic Single Track race series in Winter Park during the summer.
